"Dust you are and to dust you shall return"

Wednesday begins the season of Lent, the 40 days between Ash Wednesday until Easter.

"Dust you are and to dust you shall return."

What a powerful reminder that we must always be ready to meet God. We do not know the hour, the minute, or even the second that we will pass from this life. We MUST get ourselves "right" with God. This, of course, requires focus and commitment. It is a commitment EVERY day to start over WITH God. It takes work, but the spiritual reward and wisdom is worth every moment.

The season of Lent is the perfect opportunity to turn our back on sin, and shroud ourselves in His forgiveness and mercy. Not only a time to be repentant, but also a time to take steps towards God....a time to make time for prayer. A time to make time for reading scripture. How easy it is to let modern technology and the distractions of life come in the way of this precious time with Christ. Of course, we should do this all year round, not just during Lent, but Lent is the perfect time to re-dedicate ourselves to our relationship with Christ.

I, as do many, need to take a step back, "unplug" ourselves from all this crazy technology, and go to a private room and spend one on one time with God. From that I will gain peace, wisdom, the things I need.

So, I challenge everyone out there, to take the time to reflect on your own personal journey and relationship with Christ. Schedule time daily to pray and be with God and see what happens! See what blessings God bestows upon you!!
