So I was very much looking forward to participating in our local March for Life downtown at the capital today, like I was able to do last year, however, at the last moment plans changed and so I am now unable to go, which is very disappointing. So, I am going to blog some on my experience last year.
It was a humbling and heartfelt experience to be surrounded by SO many people, from ALL walks of life, who all embrace the sacredness of LIFE. Alveda King, Martin Luther King Jr's niece, was a speaker that year. What a WONDERFUL speaker she is. If you ever get the chance to hear her speak, I highly recommend it.
At the end of the rally, it concludes with a mile silent walk through downtown Atlanta, in memory of all the lives that have been taken, without being able to live. Sounds of a heartbeat slow into silence, and then the walk begins. Most people are holding signs with various messages on them, some are quietly praying the rosary, as was a young lady next to me - I quietly joined in along with her, that was pretty cool. I can say it was an awesome experience. I am sad to not be there again this year.
